Struggles Of Great-Grandma Raising 6 Children – Video


Ella Setzler is a 72-year old pure and kind heart widow who took in all 6 of her great-grandchildren in their hard times. “They mean so much to me. They’re my heart. I had to rescue them,” she said. We don’t want to let know to other people that how big our struggles are. But fortunately, good friends are out there and always looking out for us and there in every situation.

She had raised 6 kids on her own– Ella Setzler is a 72-year old widow but the mother of her 6 children. She took in all 6 of her great-grandchildren. Although that may seem overwhelming and hard to say, she believes that it is all worth it. There is no other way to do something. She says “They mean so much to me, they’re my heart, I had to rescue them.” But this devoted great-grandmother was having a hard time behind the scenes. It is just tough than it looks.

Financial troubles were also immense that she was experiencing– As a military widow, she wasn’t earning that much income on her own, also taking care of six children on top of living expenses include, education was just too much. In addition to her regular rent, car, utilities, and childcare bills, her home also had a water leak that would cost her $900 to fix and many other things which were hard to tell. She did not have the financial stability means to keep up with all of this.

Fortunately, she had one good friend, Alice, who knew she needed some help. But Alice wasn’t able to fix all the things for Ella. She says “She’s hurting and I’m hurting ‘cos I can’t help her.” But Alice knew how to get help, so she reached out to the FOX5 Surprise Squad. They accept nominations for community members who need help.

They showed up, and when Ella knew what was going on, she burst into tears. And then, two best friends shared a huge hug. The organization Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada and Aqua Plumbing pitched in to fix her water issues for free, and her house would be fixed. All this kindness alone was enough to fill Ella’s eyes with happy tears.

The surprises weren’t stopping here, the whole team came in and fully decorated Ms. Ella’s house for Christmas with deep clean and redecorated new furniture. Underneath that new Christmas tree, and put Christmas presents for all of Ms. Ella’s children. They even gave $500 gift cards for each child very happily.

United Nissan gave the biggest gift to pay the rent on her house for a full year. The owners of the company felt motivated because they were so touched by Ms. Ella’s warmth and kindness, and she couldn’t hold herself when she got that good news. “The Lord has heard my prayers! Trust in the Lord and He’ll make a way for you! He made a way for me.”

Ella said with tears of praise and thanks. This act of love & kindness changes so much for Ms. Ella’s life. From fixing that water issue, paying her rent is going to make Ms. Ella’s bills go down permanently. Now, the whole family is happier and better off. “It’s not about presents. It’s about loving your family,” said one of Ella’s great-granddaughters.
