Daniel knew about Alicia’s previous experiences with foster care, so his family took great care of Alicia. The family went still further and decided to adopt her; however, the decision was up to Alicia. It was a dream come true for Alicia, but she decided to make things official on a special occasion. So, she contacted Tiffany and made a plan to surprise Donaldson.

On Donaldson’s birthday, they blindfolded him and brought him to a series of signs requesting him to adopt Alicia. The signs read, “This man here started out as just my coach, but he stepped up when he didn’t have to,” read a sign. “He is now not only my coach. My encourager, my protector, my provider, but now the man I call daddy.” Donaldson was overjoyed and agreed to the request. She further told ‘World News Tonight that “I will always remember that day and the hug he gave me. When he hugged me I felt so happy and safe”
